The motorway A4 Katowice-Kraków focuses on comfort. New service areas will be built on the motorway.

Press Releases 31 July 2025

New Motorway Service Areas will be built in Rudno and Grojec. Work is scheduled to begin in August. Each of these locations will have a large car park equipped with sanitary facilities. The value of the contracts concluded for the construction of the two TRS is PLN 60.4 million. The company also discloses how much it will transfer to the owner of the route, i.e. the State Treasury, for the first half of 2025.

‘The construction of these rest areas for travellers will directly improve road safety, travel comfort and motorway use,’ says Andrzej Kaczmarek, President of the Management Board of Stalexport Autostrady.

As part of the Traveller Service Area in Rudno, a total of 95 parking spaces for passenger cars, 34 for lorries and 10 for buses will be created. In Grojec, 98 parking spaces for passenger cars, 49 for trucks and 14 for buses are planned. Stalexport has also planned to modernise the existing motorway drainage system on the sections adjacent to the MOPs.

Solid financial foundations

Thanks to effective management, the Capital Group recorded an increase in revenues in the first half of this year and worked on the development of modern toll collection systems.

In the past six months, despite numerous external challenges, the Stalexport Autostrady S.A. Capital Group continued its strategic initiatives, maintaining a solid financial foundation,’ says Andrzej Kaczmarek, President of the Management Board of Stalexport Autostrady S.A. "Our activities focused on improving the quality of services offered to users of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway, which directly translates into increased capacity and shorter transaction times. The Group's operating revenue increased by approximately 11% compared to the same period last year, which is, among other things, the result of a 5.2% increase in traffic on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway and effective management of operating costs. Despite the increase in these costs, we managed to maintain a solid EBITDA result (PLN 109.8 million), which proves the financial stability of our Group," he adds.

In the first half of 2025, the Group generated sales revenue of approximately PLN 306.9 million (in the first half of 2024, approx. PLN 277 million), reflecting an increase in revenues from motorway management and operation, including toll collection on the toll section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway.

The Capital Group's operating costs (excluding depreciation) amounted to approximately PLN 197.1 million, which represents an increase of 31.7% compared to the first half of 2024 (PLN 149.6 million), mainly due to the fulfilment of the obligation towards the owner of the route, i.e. ‘Payments to the State Treasury’ in the amount of approximately PLN 113 million (an increase of approximately PLN 43.6 million) and an increase in the value of motorway repair and maintenance services (by approximately PLN 11 million). Payments to the State Treasury represent the public sector's share in the profits from the motorway management project. Between 2018 and 2025, the State Treasury obtained over PLN 616 million in this way.

The above-mentioned costs affected the Capital Group's profits.

Operating profit in the first half of 2025 amounted to PLN 57.4 million, which represents a decrease of approximately 25% compared to the first half of 2024 (PLN 76.4 million).

The Group's net profit in the first half of 2025 amounted to approximately PLN 51.9 million, which represents a decrease of 15.7% compared to the net profit in the first half of 2024 (approximately PLN 61.6 million).

The value of capital expenditure incurred in the first half of 2025 amounted to nearly PLN 10 million. These expenditures were mainly related to the modernisation of the drainage system of the Silesian section of the motorway.
